Serpentine Setup

I'd like to ditch the v-belt setup on my ol' 400 sbc.. I am going to go to the boneyards to look for a V-8 3rd gen w/ serp setup.. Would just like to know what I will need.. I dont have A/C or an A.I.R. pump.. Just my alt, p/s, long w/p & crank..

How can I make this work?? I also have a flex fan, but I am ditching that for an electric fan..

Can I still use my water pump? Or will I need a different one for the serp setup? Also, same for P/S pump.. Will I need a 3rdgen one also? I guess I'll just take everything is the price is right, but just looking for some insight & advise..

thanks

You will need a new water pump, A/C compressor or A/C delete pulley(you have to have one or the other, and I am not 100% sure but I think you need a new ps pump. There are only two main brackets one on the passenger side that holds the smog pum and AC(Be sure it has the idler pulley on it). and the drivers side holds the ps pump and alternator.Good Luck.

You don't have to run the passenger side bracket at all if you don't want to. I decided to ditch mine. I made my alternator adjustable. The belt doesn't run over that much of my water pump but I have yet to run into a problem with my setup and its been on for over a year. 50.5'' belt.
