First off i just want to clarify that i wont be doing alot of racing but my car seems faster than it is....I have a 88 firebird lo3 v8 tbi with only a flowmaster on it as far as mods are concerned(been saving for insurance and tag but many!! mods to come)..Now i just want to know which cars i can possibly hang with and maybe take....Can i spank those 94 down eclipses and all those ***** cars that seem to have taken over my school???

Hmmm I'll try to add some tech here...the 94 down eclipses are the FAST ones...along with talons/lasers. Watch out for the AWD ones you don't stand a chance stock. The newer eclipses are slower and don't come with AWD but will probably be slightly faster than you stock for stock. You should be able to take any 4 wheeled stock honda except maybe the v6 coupe accords and preludes (don't know too much about those). Just some rough guidelines...

 

Road racing does depend a lot on the car but that's not all that's involved. In my HS day, I am a '98 grad, I beat more drivers in my iroc than cars. A fast car is slow with an unexperienced driver and a slow car is fast with a experienced driver, this is even more true with manual tranny's. If you want to get an edge up on some ricers and don't have much loot, spend some time practicing your launches and shift points. You want to burn out just a little when you start and shift at the right rpm to keep your engine in it's power band. Good luck!

 

Watch out for preludes, they are suprisingly fast.

I got my BUTT BLEW OFF by an 89 eclipse turbo w/5 speed and a few mods. We were running at 70mph on a 4 lane and he came up beside me and was wanting to race. I acted like I love my car and don't dog it. He kicked it and his a** was gone!! I mean it didn't pull off but disappeared! I did out run a 2000 Eclipse w/5-speed but I don't think he really knew how to drive it.
