Choppy burnouts?

I got a 305HO in my car and it definately has power but when i goto do burnouts it seems almost like it has wheel hop but only when the tires spin. 15 in 225 tires and a factory posi unit on her. She has new shocks back there. When you pop the clutch or hit the gas when its in gear it kinda goes squeal , squeal, squeal instead of sqeeeeeeeeal. Its hard to explain but this only really happens when your lighting em up. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

it prolly is wheel hop...hard to say without heading it....they made a HO 305? where did you get it from?

The L69 is the 305 HO.... the only one that was actually called "HO".

Yes your problem is wheel hop. Very typical for these cars; in fact, I have never seen one that doesn't have it. It's designed into the suspension for some reason. Any one of these that has enogh power to spin the tires, will make it happen.

The problem is the rear lower control arm angle. It's set up such that the frame end of the LCA is lower than the rear end end of it.So, assuming that you apply power to the rear end, and it gets a real good bite, and begins pushing forward on the car, the next thing that will happen, is the forward push will try to rotate the whole rear end upwards. This will take the bite off the tires, they will begin to spin, the pushing force will go away, and the springs wil push the rear back down. Presently the rear will be back down to its lower positin, the tires will bite again, and the process repeats itself.... over and over again, about 5-7 times per second on a stock suspension.

The cure is LCA lowering brackets. Cheap, easy, and very simple, with no penalty in ride height, handling, comfort, or anything else. They simply extend the brackets that are already there, such that the rear end end of the LCAs ends up slightly lower than the frame end of them; so, when the car hooks up, and the rear squats a little, the LCA ends up about level, and the suspension is stable.

The difference is incredible. Nothing else I ever did to my car had as much effect as that one single little thing, as far as hookup.

They came from the factory. AKA L69,better cam,flat top pistons(9.5-1 compression)better exhaust,dual snorkel air cleaner.
