I live in colorado the hottest it ever is is aroind 100 in the summer but its mostly pretty cold. honestly i dont use it that much. So i was wondering what kind of HP/TQ gains i wold se by removing my ac compresser and cooler in front of the radiator. keep in mind i will keep my heater becouse it still gets cold enough to fog the windows lol. thanx guys...

I doubt you will notice anything. Better cooling, perhaps, if anything.
The gains, FWIW, would be found in the removal of that particular accessory.

Not a whole lot since the A/C compressor clutch is disengaged at WOT. Like Stekman says, the only gain you'd notice would be from losing the weight.

I took my condensor out for the weight savings and the compressor out for engine bay space.
The condensor i used as a 'hockey net' and i took slap shots at it using factory flat tappet lifters as pucks. I should take a picture of that...That was fun.

I miss mine...
I am thinking about attempting to reinstall it. However I at least need a new condensor since I broke mine. But I think I also need a compressor. I don't know.
It does free up TONS of space.

Have fun on a hot 100* day when it starts raining and you have to put your windows up...
I wouldn't pull it if I was you. Take it from a guy who hasn't had AC for the last 3 summers...it sucks hard.

That's just one of the steps in that long, slow (or not so slow, as the case may be) process of taking a nice car with some value, and hacking it up into a high-school hilljack POS that you can't get anybody to come haul off for free, let alone sell.
I wouldn't do that to any car I own. But then, I'm just not a fan of strafing a perfectly good car with a Jeffrey Dahmer saw and calling it "improvement". I call that "hacking".
The "gains" in speed from merely hacking the A/C off are insignificant at best, and probably approach zero in most cases. The only time I can see it being worthwhile to hack up a car like that, is if you're making the car into strictly a race car, and need to use something like an intake or accesory drive or something like that, that's inherently incompatible with it.

When i used to deliver hot pizzas on hot summer days in my old car with no ac, trust me it was not fun. And when it comes time to sell your car, buyers normally like ac.
I think removing a working ac system is silly. Would you look for a new car without it because you dont use it that much? Its a creature comfort thing, would you remove power windows because you prefer the discomfort and inconvience of the window crank? If you STILL want to remove it, take it out in one piece. It is very possible with 2 people, and DONT let the metal lines bend! I have an extra system that I took from a parts car, it worked great before I pulled it and is still full over 1 year later. I could use it for an easy transplant and charge a fortune to someone who has no ac because it was removed .

Anyone who would consider removing their A/C system has obviously never spent the summer in Alabama........

I agree with many of the others here who say leave it in. Mine went bad and I took it out when I re-did the car back in 93 and I've been without it since, and as they say it's no fun when it's in the high 80's-90's and the humidity is high. Mine is going back in when I get my new 383 short block to assemble the stroker motor.

Just repaired mine too. Didnt remove it, but its been dead for a couple of years. I personally dont see much advantage to removing it, and several disadvantages. Like sweaty seats!
