Car wont idle and dies when i let off the gas and hit the clutch

Well my car wont idle properly when i start it up. I have to hit the gas just to get it to idle and when it does idle it idles at like 500 rpms. It also dies on the road when i let off the gas and hit the clutch. My friend says that it needs a tuneup so thats what im about to do. I ordered a fuel filter, spark plugs, wireset, 02 sensor, distributor cap, and distributor rotor. Do you guys think that this should do the trick or is it something else?

Yeah either a tune up or just increase the idle speed.... should be a screw to increase the idle speed depending on what carb you have. Most likely a tune up is worth doing as an engine should survive at 500rpm just....

Si.
