induction ideas???

i noticed the air induction tube doesn't connect to my air filter housing but sits just below it in a hole in the tray holding the charcoal cannister and filter. is it supposed to be like that or am i missing something? are there any good induction kits around for the 85 TA? maybe something that will flow more air...
