recall questions...
Out of curiousity, I'm wondering where you would have to go and find out about what recalls were done on my car. Can I just go to the local dealership and ask for a list or what? or if they don't give it to you, does anyone on here know? It would be nice to know so I can check those things, just to make sure there ok.
Thanks, Jay

Just call up the dealership and give them your VIN. Then they'll tell you if there are any recalls on your car. Most likely there won't be any. And if the dealership doesn't have a recall listed for your specific VIN, then they won't do a damn thing about it even if you do have a problem that there was a recall on.
Take my situation for example. I've got a serious leak from the filler neck of the gas tank on my 91Z. And there was a recall on a lot of the 91s for this exact problem. In fact, a third of all the 91s produced had this problem. And mine has it too. Coincidence? I think not. But the dealership doesn't have the recall listed for my VIN, so they won't fix it. That's BS if you ask me. Someday someone's gonna flick a cigarette butt too close to my car, and Ka-BOOM!!
The only thing I know of that lists all the possible recalls for a car is Mitchell or AllData. But if you look around you might be able to find a site on the internet that tells about it. That's how I first found out about the fillerneck recall.

they can run it on dealer world at work. if you'd like just list your vin and i can check it at work. i work for a chevy dealer. even just the last 8 digits will do.
I had the gas tank recall done to my car, I gave them the car for a day, the determined that I needed a new filler neck. They replaced the filler neck, and placed a 1" x 1" sticker on my drivers side strut tower saying that Campaign blah blah blah has been done. All of this was free.
I always went to www.alldata.com for recall and service bulletin information.
