Can a vacuum advance canister break?

My VA canister just stopped working....when I plug it into full manifold nothing happens. RPM doesn't increase.

What on earth would cause it? The unit is not even a year old, is it something I could fix?

If you dont hear/see a leak then its most likely internal. It shouldnt fail so soon. If it failed you probably cant fix it yourself unless the shaft is just binding up.
