car won't idle

I have a 92 Z28. It is a 5.0 T.P.I.. It will run fine if i am moving or am pushing the accelerator. It still performs like usual. It will usually idle at 750, but is choosing to go to 500 or less. It will run at 500, but if I park it will die. It also will not start without holding the accelerator. I replaced the computor 6 months ago. (new, not used) I also replaced the fuel filter at that time. Any suggestions?

Sinner,
Has the car thrown any DTCs? Make sure your TPS is adjusted correctly. I was having a similar problem in that the car didn't want to run smoothly (or at all, sometimes!)below 1000 rpm. Mine was a MAF power relay (driver's side of the firewall, right next to the master cylinder), but this would throw a code "34" at you. Check for any vacuum leaks around the intake, runners, plenum, throttle body, & air ducting from air filters to the t.b.. Check that the PCV valve is functioning properly. Same for the EGR valve. Ensure that there are no leaks around your rocker covers, as this will also screw with the vacuum. Check your timing, and adjust if needed. Remember to disconnect the EST bypass plug near the passenger side firewall (near the a/c evaporator). Hope this provides some help, & let us know how things are going.
