Question on stock bottom end

First off, I will be converting to the LT1 intake and using aftermarket heads and a decent sized cam. When this goes in, i will be putting a 3500 stall converter in the car.

Ok...question is, will the stock bottom end hold up to all of this additional power that will be being made?

I have had people tell me that by putting that high of a stall in, I will be breaking the bottom end and twisting the crank in half. This makes absolutely no sense to me and the guy that is doing my research on building my combo for me is a GM Certified Master Mechanic and said that the people telling me this are full of **** and don't know what they are talking about. I am just wanting to get a few more opinions from you guys, since I have found that most of you know your ****.

Thanks

John

sure you might break the crank just like you might break it now. the chance of you breaking it isn't really going to increase with the changes you're making, or will only change very slightly. all in all you have nothing to worry about.

Peak RPM, peak HP, and balance/harmonics are more likely to affect the longevity of the crank than intake and torque converter installation. However, the TC will affect peak RPM if shift points are not controlled.
