Solved one problem, now somesimple Q's?

as some of you might remember, my TBI truck was running pretty poorly. well, finally got to the bottom of it and turns out the timing was off. 13.5 degrees retarded to be exact. my dads friend/friends dad checked it out at his shop, and everything was nice and tight, no signs of bad wear but somehow off almost 15 degrees. i havent messed with it, nor has my dad, and the only other person who works on our cars is above stated friend and it was fine last he saw it. how it got like this, i dont know, but its mostly all better now.

now for the questions. i have a long term engine build beginning now, but my stock exhaust could use some help. i dont want to go out and have a brand new custom bent system put in to match the stock 350 when i will need a new system to match the new engine in less than a year. what would be either a nice simple exhaust setup to put on my stock 350 TBI (truck) that will give a better note and flow a bit better, but not break the bank?

while im at it, i think im going to replace the plugs, wire, cap rotor coil and timing chain just to be safe. other than that, are there any worthwhile, lower $$$ mods? i plan to pick up a stock TBI to port so i dont mess up my current one, and maybe intake? headers? what else might be worth my time? thanks

Any set of hedders are better than stock. Pick up a jegs or summit catalog and find a set that fits your truck. You have a low output motor so one set won't be necessarily better than another. Quality would be the only difference. Check out the TBI board to find out what makes these systems tick in the "new to TBI" thread at the top of the page. The same mods for TBI f-bodies apply to trucks and B-bodies. I hope I gave you enough to get started on your search. Since we are not dealing with an f-body this will get locked.

yea definitely enough, thanks shifty. im not looking to spend lots of $$$ on this with a new powerplant on the horizon, or to create huge #'s. just a minor improvment, atleast noticable but not drastic.
