When jacking up motor for headers I ran into some trouble...
I had to jack up the engine in my car because the heater box from hell wouldnt let me squeeze the header next to the head. So, like stated in the instructions, I got a floor jack, put a 2x8 between the jack and the oil pan and jacked it up. Trouble is, the car rose about 5 inches off the ramp before the motor even budged. Anyway, I ran into some trouble and the motor has to be jacked up again to remove the header. My question is...if I remove the tranny mount as well as the motor mount will this make it any easier to jack it up or will the entire setup drop from the undercarrige? Any help is appreciated. thanks!

I'd like to think that as long as you just unbolt the trans-to-trans-mount bolts, and leave the crossmember in place, the trans won't fall out on you... but that's just a guess!

What if the whole system (engine & trans) decides to lunge forward? I don't think it would, but that's what I'm not sure on. With the engine lifted off the motor mounts, that'd be a pain in the *** to align again!

Just take out the motor mount through bolt on that side of the engine, put a 2x4 under the starter head, and jack it up. It'll go fine.
