Edelbrock additions to the 305. Is it worth it?

Edelbrock additions to the 305. Is it worth it?

My 305 is pretty stock. No mods that I am aware of. I've got an Edelbrock RPM manifold and cam (and valve springs). As well as the Edelbrock 750 cfm carb. I am considering putting these in and trashing the Quadra jet carb.

My question is, has anyone done this to their 305 and what kind of performance enhancement did you notice? It's not low end torque but I am hoping I get enough positive feedback about this to actually do it. If it's not worth it, then I'll just hold on to the parts til I get an engine (350) worthy of these mods.

I swapped my L03 TBI over to carb with the RPM intake. All mods are in the sig. To be honest though, that 750 seems a bit much for that little engine. With the setup i have now, i had to put smaller jets in the Holley just to not run as rich all the time. Only way i can see running a 750 in it is with a BIG cam. Don't know if this will do you any good but it's my .02 cents.Laters

600 CFM is all you need for a 305. Even though I used a Holley carb, there is a noticeable torque increase over the stock quadrajet. Adding the Carb and manifold will definently yield a noticeable power increase.
However, your higher speed (60 mph+) will probably choke since you most likely have stock exhaust manifolds.

I've swapped in Edelbrock carbs and intakes on 2 different thirdgens, its definately worth the effort. Makes enough difference that you can feel. I also agree that you should go with a 600cfm carb on your 305. Also consider getting headers and upgrade the exhaust to get the most out of your parts combination.
