I run 10w30 in mine. Oh yeah and in case you missed the recent posts, don't use a Fram oil filter. Using the AC Delco filter is the common recommendion, I'm running the Bosch w/ good luck.

AMSOIL 10W30 synthetic in the Camaro, 0W30 synthetic in the 396. AMSOIL filters on both (best filter out there).

Show that new powerplant some respect and use the best. Anyone who uses petroleum based oil in a healthy engine has no respect for their machinery. Using a "me-too" synthetic isn't much better (Valvoline, Penzoil, Castrol, etc.).

Mobil One 10w30. 120k miles, never apart (so I've been told). Needs valve seals. Amsoil, Redline, and Royal Purple (Maxoil) are the best, but expensive. Too high for my old beater (until the stroker comes, anyway).

New (to me) 87 Formula 350. Edelbrock TES, Flowmaster, airfoil, K&N in modified airbox, March underdrive pullies, still slow....for now.

this might sound a bit heavy, but my oil pump aint quite the best.. so in the summer i run 15w40, and 10w30 in the winter.. i always use a wix or delco filter..

85ZZ4TPI, use whatever grade oil your engine specifies, synthetic is best, but damn expensive.

I run 5W30 in the RS, 10W40 in the 79, due to it's 60 over boring. Valvoline all the way..

Remember, oil film thickness between the ring face & the cylinder bore is influenced by oil viscosity. The lower the viscosity, the less oil film thickness which translates to higher ring face & bore wear over time. I would recommend 10W30 as absoulte minimum, with 10W40 being prefered for hot weather driving, especially if engine is pushed "hard".

Mobil One 5w30 with an AC filter. What weight is recomended? I have been wondering if this is too thin for an L98? It holds good oil pressure.

15W-40 Delo 400. It's in everything I own. What's more important is how often you change the oil and filter. I try to get it out before 3500 miles and always before 4000.

Use a good quality oil and filter and CHANGE it EVERY 3000 miles. The best oil in the world won't protect your engine if the oil is worn out or dirty.

15W50 Mobil 1 and AC PF25 on the 'F' car. I only use the car in the summer. The daily drivers get 10W30 Mobil 1 and the appropriate AC oil filter every 3,000 miles in colder weather (down to -35°F) and 15W50 in the summer.

I wouldn't use anything with much lower viscosity than 10W (ISO 46), especially in a synthetic. The pour point is more than low enough for anything I'll ever encouter, and teh high temperature protection is much better than mineral oils.

I had 10W30 Mobil 1 in the case last year when the temp hit -37°F with my wife's Astro parked outside the cabin, in the wind. The battery was definitely a little "less fresh" in the morning when I started it, but it cranked and fired with no problems and no detectable noise from lack of lubrication. I think I would have been a screwed puppy with 5W30 mineral oil, for sure. Besides, I like my engines too much to use 5W-anything at highway speeds and loads. One set of bearings for every 300,000 miles is plenty for me.

Castrol 10w30 in the f-body, and my dad's 2000 Galant.. Castrol 5w20(isn't that ****ing scary!) in the Civic.. even worse.. Ford uses 5w20 in freakin 5.4L triton V8's.. in Expeditions and whatnot.. want to void your warranty.. go ahead and use something else.. That just scares me.

when the time comes to put a new motor in the RS I'll break her in with either Castrol or Valvoline.. and it's Mobil 1 or Royal Purple from then on.

Check out this technical article for information on filters. You may think twice about ever using a FRAM again.
http://members.nbci.com/minimopar/oilfilterstudy.html

I personally use Valvoline 20W-50, with AC filters for the IROC. Valvoline 10W-40 for the pickup.
