Car Won't Start
Car Won't Start
Hi-
I used to live in michigan, now I live in south carolina. The reason I mention this is that my Trans Am won't start, and I don't have a clue why, but I do know that it is hotter than hell down here.
It was having some wierd side affects before this started happenin. It would not start, and then I would wait a couple minute, and it would start again. After I started it, the voltmeter would go up to 18 volts. The first time I had this problem, it was raining. It didn't stall, but after I shut it off it wouldnt start- exactly the same problem I have now.
Not only does it not start- none of the accessories work. The battery is still showing 12 volts.
I got under it and played around with the accessory wires and battery cable to the starter, and the lights and all accessories worked fine again. Then, I tried to start it.
I heard the solenoid slam the little gear, and that was all she wrote, back to being dead- all accessories off.
I don't have the slightest clue what is wrong, although I read something about third gen firebirds having trouble in the heat, so I was curious if this was the problem or not.
I appreciate any/all advice! Thank you!

Have you checked all the fusible links at the starter solenoid, the battery connections for security and corrosion at the battery and solenoid. BTW, what part of S.C. are you in?
