Ignition Module(s) Where? How to install? HELP!
I would like to know where the ignition module(s) is/are and how to install one incase my '91 'Bird takes a s**t on me down the road like my '87 T/A did in the middle of nowhere 2 years ago. Man... that really SUCKS when it just cuts off with no warning at all!! ...and it was the module.

Just take the distributor cap off and i think you will be able to see it, then it's all self-explanitory

Theres no real trick to changing your Ignition Module. You pretty much see it once you remove the cap and rotor.Just unscrew the screws holding it and unplug it.And you might notice some goo or sticky type stuff on the back of the module.Thats a,i thik its called, dialectric grease. The new module should come with some on it already or come with some to put on the back of the module.Make sure you put the stuff on the back of the module before you put it in.Ive heard of many people that didnt bother and since they didnt the Ignition Module burned out.Just what i know,id ask what the name of the stuff is that goes on the back of the module though,i think it might be dialectric grease though. And by the way, nice Trans Am,i also have an 86.Al in NJ

where is the module located?? through jegs high performance..about 172$!!!! ditch the stock crap and use a msd 6al!! those are the only REAL modules for v8's!!anyhow its under the dis. cap after you take off the cap you'll see it.. then take out 2 screws have it tested at your local parts store (for free!) and then re-install put cap back on and enjoy. the wires connected to it arent going to be easy to get off so be patient!

DO NOT! I repeat, DO NOT get them tested at your local parts store. That DOES NOT work. I just went through that problem. I had mine tested at the local parts store, and it tested perfectly. I watched her do it. My module was still bad. Just replace it. My module was only about $30. I replaced it, and everything works perfectly.
