?on how to put the distributor

okay guys i just rebuild my motor and now i dont know the right way to drop in the dist. back in. wat do i do and i know that the rotor has to point to # 1 but wat side the bronze contact or the back part facing # 1????????

okay i know one part now but how do i know in wat place the engine has to be to drop it in isnt at tdc with #1 piston all the way to the top?

To easily reinstall the distributor, it really does help to have the #1 piston at TDC of the compression stroke, otherwise, it is sort of a hit and miss ordeal.

To find TDC compression, remove the #1 spark plug and put your finger over the hole. Make sure you remove the 12v power wire to the distributor first!!. Once you feel pressure building behind your finger, remove it and bring the engine to TDC. I like to rotate it via the crankshaft. A strap wrench around the balancer pullel works well for this. Once you have TDC compression drop the distributor in. It doesn't really matter which terminal on the distributor is #1 so note which terminal the rotor is pointing to and make that #1. From there, follow the SBC firing order around. Tighten the dizzy clamp bolt just enough to hold it in place, but keep it loose enough so you can rotate it by hand.

well thanks i already found did and all work out fine so i was able to start it up today it sounds more aggresive with the lt1 cam
