vacuum leak

Whats the best way to check for a vacuum leak do I use some kind of solution. I,ve replaced most of my vacuum hoses. now how do you check intake man. I,ve use a vacuum guage and before I had engine rebuild my vacuum was about 21 and steady and now my vacuum is about 20 - 20.5 but not steady ( needle moves back/forth slowly. I hooked up the guage to the plenum along side the fuel reg. port. is this the best place? thanks.

if you have 20-20.5 "hg vacuum i doubt if its leaking. normally a vacuum leak will put you down around 15 or less.
good way to find a leak is with propane or carb cleaner, (i prefer propane).
