Car: 89 formula 350
Engine: 350 TPI
Transmission: Stock 700r4
I had this same exact problem. It turned out that the gear on the VSS was worn, so it would just spin in place, causing the speedo no to get a signal. After a little while, it would heat up and cause to expand a little, then start working. I had to replace the VSS to get it to work right. Does your odometer move? Mine didnt until I changed the VSS. Damn 50 dollar part.
