I would say that it probably wouldn't be enough to notice, and there may be a day that you decide you want to use the A/C.

Hey, taking the belt off will give you a few more horses, only a couple at the lower end of the rpm range, but quite a few probably 10+ when you get up in the high rpms and that things starts to cause serious drag. Taking the whole system out on the other hand can effectivly give you more power too. The whole system is probably 30+ pounds. This is a nice weight decrease so you will gain something from that too, not to mention free up some more room in the bay. Just be sure you really don't want to use it, and be careful when taking out the gas. Have fun.

its realy not worth disconecting unless your trying to lower your E.T by a tenth. AC is a good thing to have when its a 100+ out side or if your girlfriend doesent want her hair messed up

There are a lot better ways to get back the extra ½ HP at 4,500 RPM than to take off the AC belt. When teh compressor is not clutched in, the sheave is basically an idler, and the only drag is created by belt friction and the inertial drag of the extra sheave. When shifting, the mass may actually help a little, like a heavier flywheel can actually increase speed.
