Any opinions on these cam lobes?
What happened, I never had this much wear with the lpe 219 cam, it looked brand new when I pulled it out. This is a comp custom grind from their lobe catalog, small base circle 230-236 .575-.578, new comp 950 springs, new 875 lifter, zero lash, about 5000 miles on cam. Lifters look fine.
Is this a hardness problem?

Here is the response I got from comp cams:
B.J.,
The tracks that you see are from the cam being of a porous material
and
the wheel of the lifter being of a hardened steel. Combined with the
weight of
the valve spring will sometimes leave this impression. There is nothing
to be
alarmed over and will be fine to reuse as is.
Thank you,
Would anyone like to buy this cam from me?
I think it's headed for the scrap pile, I don't like the way that looks.

I've seen that before...
If you can't feel it with your fingernail, and the valve adjustment didn't change, then it's OK. I don't think I'd buy one that looked like that; but if it was mine, and it was the grind I wanted, and the service history was OK (no recurring valve lash problems or metal in the oil or any of that), I'd re-use it.

You can feel it with your fingernail all right. You can see on some lobes exactly where the roller lifter was riding, and it wore grooves in the lobes.
I think it's headed for the scrap pile.
Next cam from comp will be a billet steel core, not this junk.
