one piece seal engine block whoes....Help!!!

I reciently bought a 89 gta. The man I bought it from thought that the head gasket had blown. Upon teardown of the engine I found that the block was cracked in the no.4 cylinder. The block has one piece seal and 4-bolt mains. Is this a hi-pervormance block or are all the one piece blocks 4 bolt. I have concidered sleveing the block, but would rather have a different block. Also what would be a fair price for a one piece rear seal 4-bolt block and 2bolt. If you can please help.

used around 250 to 350 for a good one, the higher being a 4 bolt. 4 bolt blocks are cheapest from 8600 gvw and over truck engines. (8600 gvw and over being the 8 lug 3/4 ton trucks and bigger series).i don't remember what year the corvette began using 4 bolt blocks again, but they are nice too, but expensive. a 2 bolt would work fine for pretty much any normal use.

4 bolt blocks arent even necessary until you are getting up around 600+ hp. 2 bolts are a dime a dozen.

It's not the HP, it's the RPMs you need to watch out for.

Call around to some junk yards looking for a truck or van motor. If you pull it, you can probably find one for around $150-$200. The yards usualy consider them cores so they don't kill you for them. Just bring a list of casting numbers.

thanks guys I let my fingers do the walking and found a block out of a 88 3/4 ton work truck for $225 w/the heads. The guy did hot want to part the motor, but it is still not a bad price.
