Any experience with code 42?
Any experience with code 42?
Chiltons says only EST. Looks like it could be half a dozen things. My mechanic pulled the PROM and reset the ECM and the check engine light went off for the rest of the day but came back on tonite. Sometimes the light will go off when I shut the hood, anywhere from an hour to a day or two. The car also gives me a hard time starting when it's been sitting overnite in the rain, or very high humidity, and I feel that the two problems are related. It will want to stall for the first ten minutes or so when I shift into first whenever the starting problem happens. When the light is off she runs smooth as silk. The light comes on within about 2 seconds of starting, and you can hear the difference in the engine right before it comes on. I tried searching the boards but it won't let me search for 42. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

42. Fault at electronic spark timing circuit OR
Fault at direct ignition system OR
Fault at fuel cutoff relay circuit
if you go to the main page (www.thirdgen.org) and search the tech articles the first thing in the miscellanious section is how to read the codes, and what they all mean.
Not sure how to help you with your problem tho
