car stinks after o2 sensor change

Like it says, after I changed my o2 sensor (bosch), my exhaust smells richer. Not like eggs...but like carbon monoxide.

Is it recommended that I disconnect the battery terminal to reset the computer or what?

Could it be somethign related?

Yes. Completely clear the ECM, then wait for the BLM tables to regenerate with the new, good data from the P² sensor.

You dont need to do anything to "reset" your ecm. It should function properly after the change. Why did you change the o2 to begin with?

why did I change it? Car as 170k mi and I've driven it for 50k of those. Don't know when it was changed if ever. Making frequent road trips this summer and making sure everything is tuned up and working as it should.

Oops....CO is odorless. Brainfart.

I'm sure the point was not lost on you though.

Thanks vader.

Dank is right. You don't have to do anything. The integrator will act on the new sensor data and write new (correct) data tables a little at a time, slowly but eventually skewing the tables downward (lean) until they are correct.

However, if you are as impatient as I am, you'll clear the ECM amd force the integrator to start constructing new data tables right away - Well, as soon as the ECM goes to closed loop, anyway.

Ok. Now I understand. I appreciate your input. Thanks.
