how do you change the rear main seal in a 87 and later one piece seal?

Car: 90 Formula, 02 ws6
Engine: 305 tpi, ls1
Transmission: 700r4, t-56
Axle/Gears: stock posi 2.73, 12 bolt with 4.11s
how do you change the rear main seal in a 87 and later one piece seal?

my motor is leaking all over and i wana change all the gaskets at once

i just not sure how to change the rear main seal

Car: 87 Formula
Engine: 327
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.23
You need to either pull the transmission, or the engine. Usually the tranny's easiest. Then just pull the seal and tap the new one in. If you're putting alot of new gaskets(such as oil pan) on your motor maybe pullin the engine would be easier.

i was thinking the same thing i just hate taking the headers on and off

if i do pull it i will change the cam andport the heads and all

but i dont have another car to drive around right now because my 02 is broke as well

think i'd find the source of the leak instead of blindly swapping out gaskets. there's a good chance it'll still be leaking from the same place it was after you make the gasket swap.
