SIS Light comes on, power cuts in half

Hi, my car is being a jerk. When I'm driving I occassionally will lose almsot all acceleration and the SIS light will come on. I pulled the codes and it read an EGR failure at first, so i replaced the EGR valve since the car has over 127k miles and this valve has probably never been changed anyway. That didn't do it though it still does this great power drop at random times and the light comes on again, itll go away after a while or after the car has been off for a few minutes. The codes now read 23 and 43. Does anyone know what might be the problem?

Thank you

Your code 23 is for the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor which is located in the air cleaner housing. Your code 43 is for the Electronic Spark Control Circuit.

Thank you for the reply

That is what I saw in the Haynes manual too, but what would I do in the case of code 43 do you know?

Yes, do a under ESC, I have posted the code 43 diagnostic chart for TBI & TPI engines numerous times so you should find one. If not, get back to me and I will get you one.

Start by checking the wire to the knock sensor down on the passenger side of the block.
