L98 Restrictions?
Now that I've got the 350, I want to know what are the most restrictive areas of the enigne? The Firebird intake setup looks a little screwy as far as the routing and where the air it being taken from, and I was looking at the Edelbrock catalog, and saw that they make aftermarket runners and TPI base. What are the best areas for improvement here?
Wabbit,
Probably the most restrictive area is in the intake plenum, directly behind the throttle body. There are two large "humps" in the plenum floor that shroud the EGR passages. These can be removed to increase air flow through the throttle area.
This is a plenum that has been "relieved" in that area:
What year is the car? There were several designs of air cleaner/filter assemblies and intake ducting, each one with it's own set of restrictions.

It's a '91. It's got the plastic ducting running to the right of the engine bay and taking the intake air from just behind the front frame.
