Car Wont Start, mystery cable...

Ok I recently took out the alternator and now the car wont start...
For some reason I have a cable that I dont know where it goes. Its attached to the positive batter terminal and its much smaller then the one that goes to the starter. Is this just a ground? Not sure where it goes....
Either way my car wont start

If the cable is about a 4 gage wire and is black/red in color, it goes to the post on the back of the alternator.

P.S. I hope you were wise and put the alternator back in the car, it doesn't work too well with just a 12 volt non-charging battery.

k cool, I just hooked it up but still no go...
Im not totally worried I know its just something I did.

I should have said this earlier, but I also removed the heater box and never hooked up any of the wires...Its just a missing heater box. Do you need these wires for it to turn over?

Lastly, if this helps any, when I turn the key all the way the interior lights go off and then come back on when I turn the key back.

Does it crank at all? Slowly? Anything?

Have you tried starting it via jumpers? Whats the volt reading on the gauge show?

Reconnect all the wires that you have disconnected from the heater box removal and see if that is your problem.
