3rd GEAR question?

Hey... im not sure if this is normal... but i have a 1988 manual pontiac firebird formula 305 and its a beast but it seems when i shift to 3rd gear theirs no acceleration until i get to fourth... it seems like s adud gear... is this normal???

That doesn't make any sense unless you are actually shifting into 5th gear.

.All cars accelerate the most from a stop.The faster u go the more power it takes, leaving less for acceleration.So in third gear your already going pretty fast, and leaving less power for acceleration.

Engine: vortec 305 for now
Transmission: 5 speed
It could make sense. In some of the T5 third fourth and fifth gears use these cone with clutch material on them instead of brass synchro rings. When you drive then hard they can tear off that lining. That might be what his problem is. If so, the trans will have to come out.
