So really cool things like this don't happen, out of the blue, while your driving down the road.
I don't know about your guys V8s, but mine doesn't run to well on seven cylinders.

I have found that on various vehicles that I have owned, that the caps with brass terminals don't seem to corrode like the steel terminals above...
On the brass caps, the wear is limited to what I consider normal. But there appears to be corrosion on top of the wear with steel terminals.
And...
Missing a terminal never helps deliver peak power

Also brass is a better conductor of electricity. Steel is near the bottom of the metal conductivity list.

I wouldn't say that... I have a 350TPI... My friends pointed out once how the tach would constantly fluctuate, and the oil pressure bounces and such..They were like "Wow, that's awesome" (IE: made the engine seem sort of racey)
I knew something was wrong, but I didn't care, the car drove fine, and still had tons of power
I went to see if i could get the oxygen sensor off to replace it (it's welded onto the manifold now,
).. and I reached down there.. and.. WTF?!?!? HAS THIS SPARKPLUG WIRE ALWAYS BEEN OFF?... Other than the tach, oil pressure, and a slight jerking while coasting at 30mph... You really couldn't tell anything was wrong.. Tons of power for a V7.. I just can't believe I went so long with it like that..
I connected it, and now the car is fine, idles smooth, oil pressure is constant, and seems to have gotten back some more power
Still get 12 mpg, though.. Oxygen sensor probably :-/

well mine was backfiring out the exhaust under cruise, idling much rougher than normal, and ran like crap at anything more than light acceleration.
basically, running on seven cylinders
