Fuel Gauge bounces

So when I'm braking the fuel gauge will move down, the harder I brake, the further it goes down (when slowing down from 25 to 10 for a speedbump it will move the gauge half-way!). If I accelerate fast then it'll go up rela fast until it levels out.

Is this a common "problem"? Can I fix this somehow? I have a carb'd 305 from a 86 Berlinetta if it matters. Basically I just dont like feeling so insecure in what my fuel level actually is, and I dont want to have to worry about possibly starving my engine from fuel while doing a hard brake.

BTW, I did a search for this and couldnt find anything, so I'm sorry if this has been covered before, I just couldnt find anything

Almost all cars do this to some degree. Ive found that our cars tend to do this more than others thou. Its nothing to worry about thou. You wont starve you engine for fuel becasue the pickup is on the very bottom of the tank.
