Odd Shifting??
When my car is started in park and I shift into drive with my foot on the brake the car lurches forward a little. Its like a jump. What is that? THANKS!!

Car: currently thirdgenless!!!
I believe that would be called torque.
But seriously, I have 2 thirdgens and both of them jump a touch when I shift into drive. My T/A is alot worse than my Camaro.

unless its a really hard jump i wouldnt worry about it if it is a hard jump then turn your idle down a little its too damn high....

Is it a stock engine, or has it been modified?
My Bird squacks the tires when I put it in gear, and that is with a 10" converter. Of course it idles at 1800 rpm's as of this week.
Bottom line is it depends on what you have, if it is a bone stock car and you feel that the jump is excessive, your idle is probably too high.

It can be fun, it can also be frustrating. I have wiped out 2 transmissions (ripped the tailshaft off...hence the torque arm delete), and blown a rear. The doors look funny, must have tweaked the chassis even with the sfc I put in. I figure this $200 body isn't going to last long.
DVL86, is the car stock?

perfectly normal. Every automatic car that I've driven does that lurching forward thing. Even my mom's 1986 Buick Skylark (4 banger) does this heh. I wouldnt worry too much about it.

my roc is stock as far as I can tell. The only mods are maybe the tinted windows and chrome exhaust but thats just extirior mods not engine work. Maybe the previous owner did some mods here and there. It does have more get up and go than other 305's. haha.

Check overall tune of engine, including idle. Then check u joints as slop in them can give you more of a jolt than normal.
Get a second opinion as to if it is excessive or not.
