Car Cranks But Wont Start....heres What Ive Done
Ok guys this is like my third time posting on this and so far all ur help is well appreciated but hasnt worked...im at a loss...car hasnt ran in a year
specs in signature
car cranks but wont start....the car was running fine one day about a year ago and then all of a sudden just wont fire up...i get it to crank..can verify fuel but get no spark
so i replaced
the ignition module(4 times now)
ignitions coil
checked all plugs..all look good
all wires are good and routed correctly
replaced cap and rotor
after doing searches..i thought it may be possible my timing is off that bad..but i never actually removed the distributor...so could it really be off just from taking cap and rotor off?
thanks for any imput...

im not too adept with cars yet....just doing things im finding in olld posts...
any tips would be greatly appreciated..thanks

Pick-Up coil in the distributor? You havent checked that and thats the only thing left in the distributor. But your going to have to remove the dis. and tear it apart.

Take a plug (old or new) and just pull the easiest plug wire and stick the plug in it and have someone crank it while you ground the plug. That's the easiest way to verify spark. With a 40k gap, the spark ought to be clearly visible. It's hard for a spark to jump almost two in. out of the boot to ground! If your worried about the gas being old, poor some more in the tank and add 1/2 can of octane boost with it. Have you tried a short shot of starting fluid?
If you do, don't fire it up with fluid in case of back fire. You can set the air cleaner lid back on while you crank just in case.
If you take your ign. module to Auto Zone they will test it for free. No need to keep buying them!
Resarting an engine after a year is easy only if you give it a chance. For instance, The rings on the pistons that were at the top of the stroke might have the rings stuck in the grooves. A good shot of Rislone in each cyl. and let sit over night might be enough to free them up. (hard to start a motor with no comp.)

I had a similar problem, no spark and injectors would not work. After replacing the distibuter it fired right up. Check the pick up coil in the distributer.
get a noid lite and check the injector harness. you don't really check spark by seeing if it'll spark with a spark plug. buy a spark checker if you have spark there you have spark enough to fire the plug i nthe engine.

A spark tester is about $10 and you will know for sure about spark.
You can dump 1/3 a cup of gas right down the carb and you will know pretty quickly if it is bad gas or NO gas. (just stand back when you crank)
I had a new rebuilt carb that would squirt gas when the accelerator was pushed but would not squirt when cranking.
