what valve springs shall i use?

ive got a '79 4 bolt main 350 with 305 heads, and i just recieved a cam for it. i was told i should change out my old valve springs for this cam. my cam is the CS 268H-10. comp cams gave me a #981-16 part number and i looked it up, those springs are just the outers. are the outer springs all i need?

if that's what comp recommends that's what i'd run. i'd traqsh the factory rotaters and buy comp retainers to match the springs.

so i would be fine if i were to replace the outers and leave the inner springs alone?

981's are the outer spring, yes. They also have an inner damper (single with damper). Not really an "inner spring" just there to absorb some harmonics, much like a balancer.
