How do I install the lifter guide plate

I need help with the installation of my lifter guide plate. I recently installed a new intake and thought it would be a good idea to remove the lifter guide plate on my 305/roller lifters and clean the lifter valley out. Well no secret now but I can't remember how it came out. Do the little fingers on the guide plate actually hook around the lifter plates or do they just push down on top of them, holding the lifter plates in place. Everything went smooth untill I fired it up and there is a lifter/rocker chatter from H*LL. Thanks for any suggestions or help!

They are installed as such (lifters on the left side):

And arranged as such:

The little "feet" on the spider center on the dogbone, between the 2 holes, and as stated, hold the retainers down so they don't go popping up all over the place.
