LT1 Heads on non LT1 application
Hey guys -
Found an awesome deal on some LT1 heads, but let me tell you my situation:
I've got a 94 Truck motor for my 84Z (got the motor for free) that is going to have a carb on it, so the heads should just bolt up, right? I'm pretty sure on that point, but are the accessory holes the same?
The biggest thing I'm worried about is the intake. If I understand correctly, the intake manifold bolts go in at a different angle, but not straight up like the Vortecs. So, everyone tells me that all you have to do is slot the bolt holes a little bit so they will line up. Will this work with, say, a Edelbrock RPM intake? Or, do they make a specific LT1 intake for carb'd applications?
One more thing, it looks like the LT1 Exhaust ports are shaped a little bit different. Is this just my imagination, or am I going to have trouble with headers/gaskets?
Thanks a lot guys!!

Gen II heads will not work even a Vortec engine since the vortec engine is still moreless like the standard SBC. Reversed cooling system on the LT1 and LT4 is the reason. Sorry to dissapoint you but at least you won't waste your money.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking that there was more to the LT1 heads than just slappin em on there... Oh well, looks like Vortec heads for me... BTW, the 94 is a non-Vortec motor, 96 starts the Vortecs.
Thanks for the info, and I'm glad I'm not stuck with heads I don't need...
