Lt1 Cam????

Well i bought my lt1 cam of ebay, and it does not have the long pin like my buddys lt1 cam. It came of a 1994 350 lt1. Is there any other way of nowing what an lt1 cam is based on the little #s it has?

The 93 and 94 LT1 cams had a shorter dowel pin because of the non vented Opti. I would just measure the specs of it to varify.

Any of the LT1 cams will work. You only have to modify the later ones by griding off a part of the dowel pin. The dowel pin on your stock cam is smaller than the ones found on the LT1 cams. You may not have to cut it down if it clears the timing cover. The 95 thru 97 LT1 cams must be cut.

Well you can only tell by the casting number and the measured specs. All other gen I hydraulic roller cams will resemble what you have there.

On my factory Vortec cam, the stamping was on the rear of the cam.

MEasure the basics. LSA and lift. If those two match the production specs for the b-body cam than chances are the guy who sold it to you was legit.

This should help you

There's a lot to explain, when it comes to degreeing or checking the #s of a cam.
There are a lot of guys here who could tell you how to do it but it's too time consuming.
Go to some of the cam companies sites like Crane or Comp and there will be a tech info section there that explains how to degree or check the specs of your cam.
There are some special tools that come in handy, like a dial indicator and a degree wheel.
At the very least youll need the degree wheel. And if you're serious about engine building, a dial indicator will be something that you'll find countless uses for, other than just degreeing cams.
It might seem like a big expense at first, but if you're comitted to learning engine building you'll be glad you spent the money.

B-body.

Make sure it is not an LO3 or LO5 cam. Both of those motors were also found in that car. You could have also got the baby LT1 cam as well.

a lo3 in a 95 car, damn!

the problem is..the parts are at my aunts house in the US, so I can't check that ;(

all the parts will come in one big package, so I maybe should look into another cam?!
greetings

S!MON

p.s: I will open a new thread, cause it seems, that that is not the cam I want!

No I bet it is LT1. I can't remember is the LT1 came out in 94 for the caprice or 93. Just do a little more research if you can along with measuring the specs.
