Empty hole on rear lifter valley rail?

Hey guys, i am assembling my 355 and i noticed a threaded hole that is about 3/8'' in diameter. This hole is empty with no plug in it. What is this hole for? I am assuming that it is part of the oil system. Shold it be plugged? Thanks, Bob

The threaded hole is on the firewall facing rail of the lifter valley. up on top of the rail, it is oriented horizontally with the ground when installed in the car.

Would this be at the very top of the block, where the intake goes, about halfway between the head decks?

Oil pressure sending unit, for either the gauge or fuel pump

No, it does not; it has a notch that goes around it. Otherwise it would have been very difficult for the factory to put the oil pressure sender there.
