What causes black somke when letting off gas?
I just got back from the track and my friend told me that I had a black puff of smoke coming from the tail pipes when I would shift. I read before what causes it but I forgot. Is it because I am running rich or what. Thanks for the help.

The one word answer: FUEL
It sounds like you may be running a bit rich. Black smoke is excessive fuel, white smoke is water, and blue smoke is oil.
