Starter noise

Hey just put a new starter in the Camaro after it's been sitting all year. Haven't run it in 3 months. So i jumped it from another car and now the starter clicks loudly and real quickly. Its almost a grind but its not. Also, the pulley's move VERY slightly when you turn the key. Could the engine be locked? I didn't take any shims out so the started should be aligned but could it be misaligned somehow and is just grinding on the flywheel? I'm puzzled. Thanks

Matt

You dont have enough power to turn the starter over. Put the battery out of the car you jumped it with into and go over all your connections. I'm sure I'm missing something but I havent been working on cars for 40years...

With this car, it's never a question of "can I...", only "will I..."!

I agree, its probably just not getting enough power to start the car.
