How to get a car with no EGR to pass emissions, need help!

I have a ZZ4 and since the heads don’t have previsions for EGR I can’t use the EGR valve. I failed the first test due to the air tube connecting to the cat not being hooked up.

Here are my first test results (with not air to cat and no EGR):
<table border=1>
<tr><td> </td><th colspan=3>15 mph</th><th colspan=3>25 mph</th></tr>
<tr><td> </td><td>limit</td><td>reading</td><td>result</td><td>limit</td><td>reading</td><td>result</td></tr>
<tr><th>HC ppm</th><td>111</td><td>42</td><td>PASS</td><td>108</td><td>65</td><td>PASS</td></tr>
<tr><th>CO%</th><td>0.62</td><td>1.01</td><td>FAIL</td><td>0.66</td><td>0.05</td><td>PASS</td></tr>
<tr><th>NO ppm</th><td>848</td><td>561</td><td>PASS</td><td>773</td><td>680</td><td>PASS</td></tr>
<tr><td> </td><td>RPM</td><td>895</td><td>VALID</td><td>RPM</td><td>895</td><td>VALID</td></tr>
<tr><td> </td><td>Dilution</td><td>14.6</td><td>VALID</td><td>Dilution</td><td>14.0</td><td>VALID</td></tr>
</table>

Here are my second run results with all emission equipment except EGR:
<table border=1>
<tr><td> </td><th colspan=3>15 mph</th><th colspan=3>25 mph</th></tr>
<tr><td> </td><td>limit</td><td>reading</td><td>result</td><td>limit</td><td>reading</td><td>result</td></tr>
<tr><th>HC ppm</th><td>111</td><td>13</td><td>PASS</td><td>108</td><td>18</td><td>PASS</td></tr>
<tr><th>CO%</th><td>0.62</td><td>0.06</td><td> PASS</td><td>0.66</td><td>0.01</td><td>PASS</td></tr>
<tr><th>NO ppm</th><td>848</td><td>948</td><td>FAIL</td><td>773</td><td>1248</td><td>FAIL</td></tr>
<tr><td> </td><td>RPM</td><td>895</td><td>VALID</td><td>RPM</td><td>895</td><td>VALID</td></tr>
<tr><td> </td><td>Dilution</td><td>13.9</td><td>VALID</td><td>Dilution</td><td>13.3</td><td>VALID</td></tr>
</table>

I need suggestions, I can program chips so let me know if I should pull out tons of timing or lean it out or what.

Take out some timing and richen it slightly. Lean and too much advance both cause higher combustion temps, and higher combustion temps produce more oxides of nitrogen.

Or, plumb a tube from the exhaust header/manifold to the intake manifold, and hook the EGR valve back up.

A friend told me to add rubbing alchol to the gas, will that help me out?

Well I got it to pass. I retarded the timing and added octane boost 104 (since I suspected it had methanol in it).

Here are the results:
<table border=1>
<tr><td> </td><th colspan=3>15 mph</th><th colspan=3>25 mph</th></tr>
<tr><td> </td><td>limit</td><td>reading</td><td>result</td><td>limit</td><td>reading</td><td>result</td></tr>
<tr><th>HC ppm</th><td>111</td><td>25</td><td>PASS</td><td>108</td><td>40</td><td>PASS</td></tr>
<tr><th>CO%</th><td>0.62</td><td>0.05</td><td> PASS</td><td>0.66</td><td>0.05</td><td>PASS</td></tr>
<tr><th>NO ppm</th><td>848</td><td>644</td><td>PASS</td><td>773</td><td>519</td><td>PASS</td></tr>
<tr><td> </td><td>RPM</td><td>895</td><td>VALID</td><td>RPM</td><td>895</td><td>VALID</td></tr>
<tr><td> </td><td>Dilution</td><td>13.9</td><td>VALID</td><td>Dilution</td><td>13.6</td><td>VALID</td></tr>
</table>

Congrats.

The rubbing alcohol may or may not have helped - it would take quite a bit to make a difference. The 104 probably didn't. Retarding the timing did.
