major slippage
whenever i hit the throttle to pass someome up or to go up a hill, my automatic 86 berlinetta downshifts like normal, but then it'll just rev and it wont go any faster. also if i give it than normal throttle, it stays in a gear way tooo long.. any ideas? torque converter? tranny slipping? all fluids are full also..

How high of rpms are we talking here. The stock engine in 3rd gens top out at 4000-4500 rpm. You just don't have the power to go faster.

ME Leigh knows what he's talkin about. Frankly, I find that my 86 Berlinetta reaches the max of it's powerband in speed at around 70. After that it feels like my mom's 4 banger Buick Skylark lol.
But you should still be able to gain speed and such, just not as fast as within the power band. You may want to check to see if the plug wires are toast or what. That could cause it... or plug wires. I doubt it's a air problem since you're doing this on the freeway/highway.
Try doing some general maintenance. Spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap, rotor, oil (synthetic is always a good choice), oil filter, fuel filter, and if you dont know when your O2 was changed last, I'd suggest changing that while you're at it as well. All together w/ the O2's it will probably run you about 100 dollars on things that you should replace anyways. After that if the problem persists, you are atleast on the right track with a good running base to show where your true problem really lies.

I said in your other post that now your description sounds like the TV cable needs adjustment.

The method they posted there never worked for me. Do a search on the transmisson/drivetrain board. Transfixleo(?) posted the method for adjsutment that works the best.
