rear end swap q's- please help !!

ok, here is what i am PLANNIN on doing:

i want to upgrade to 28 spline axels, can get the posi cheap from slp, 75 bucks. ok, i have an 86, with the 26 spline axels...

what size gears should i use? doesnt one have a bigger pinion bearing that wont fit my case? just curious if this is an issue...

should i go with the original size which is 7 1/2 or switch to 7 5/8 gears?
thanx guys- this was just brought to my attention and i want to solve this before i get stuck with something!

Current Plans: Waiting on: rear end parts- upgrading to 373's, 28 spline axels, slp zexel torsion posi, and a disk brake setup. Also have lowering springs, front struts, and hopefully a new mild 350.

Get that Torsen posi from SLP, then go to the junkyard and get 28-spline axles from an 88-92 F-body. The gears and bearings are all interchangeable between different years (except for the BW 9-bolt rear end). You should have 7 5/8 now. IIRC you CAN'T get aftermarket 7 1/2", I think they are all 7 5/8 no mnatter what. I highly recommend Motive gears. I've set up a few sets before, and NEVER heard noise from them.

Hey, this is a good question. But all I want to know is what knid of posi are you getting for 75 bucks? Can't be very good can't it? Do you know there website? Can anyone get one or do you have "connections?" Thanks

I believe that they changed from a 10 bolt 7.5 to 7 5/8 inch in 1988. This is also when they decided that 26 splines were out and 28's were now standard in Camaros and Firebirds. The gears are all interchangable from 1982 to 1992 Camaros, some Astro Vans and Monte Carlos. There are a few others like S10's and Blazer's but the years of the vehicles escapes me right now.
