Car pulls HARD through first and second, but seems to develop a miss through 3rd...
Well after replacing all my plug wires with Accel 8.8s, I took the car out for a testdrive. I couldnt feel any misses just driving around town, so I took it out on the highway. The car pulls HARD though first and second, struggling for traction, but into third and fourth the car kind of bucks and lunges slightly and loses power. Since I just last fall replaced the plugs, cap, rotor and coil, and just put on new plugs, this leads me to believe that it could possibly be the control module. That is about the only igntion component that hasnt been replaced. Then again maybe its not even a miss but something else. Anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks!

sounds like a dying fuel pump.
my car did the same thing with the blower.
pulled hard in first and second....fell on its face in third
dying fuel pump was the culprit. there is a lot more load on the pump at high rpm so and you stay in third longer than any other gear...so there you go

I had the same problem, was also a dying fuel pump.

Thanks guys. Ill have to look into that. The fuel pump is an in-tank pump right? If it is I suppose Ill have to get it done professionally, sounds like a PITA. By the way I love that quote in your sig, Jester.

I wanna bring this back to the top so I can get a couple more opionions. It seems like the car lunges and sputters before the shifts. ??? Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks.

A $40 fuel pressure gauge will tell you for sure. Dropping the tank down isn't that bad; get ready to raise the car up pretty high outside, though.
