Roller Rocker Stud Lock...
for some reason, since i changed my cam from the comp cams 502 cam to the 503 cam and 1.6 rr's, the locks i use to tighten down my rockers keep comming loose. i started to notice a ticking noise so i stopped the car and popped the valve cover. lucky that i did that because one of the rocker's locks were comming loose... any more time driving the car and the rocker would have came out (again) and fuked everything up. is there any reason that this could be happening? and how should i go about fixing the problem? and another question... i've never adjusted my roller rockers before, so how would i go about doing that? thanks for all the help guys

Are these poly locks or are these the factory type locking nuts? If they are the poly locks, how are you tightening them?

I take it you're following the instructions, and adjusting your valves by loosening the set screw with an Allen wrench, adjusting the main nut, then tightening the set screw with the Allen....
That doesn't work. You'll never get it tight enough to hold the nut still. Instead, when you're finished adjust a valve, tighten it somewhat with the Allen; then tighten the main nut and the Allen together, which you should be able to add a good 1/8 turn to them both from that point. That will lock them in place far more solidly.

Yea, sounds like the first method of tightening RB listed was used. Try the second, assuming you have the tools at your disposal.

i was told to get the car running and tighten the rockers down, then to loosen them up one by one till you can hear it tapping. the moment they tap, turn it till it quiets down and then turn it 1/4 turn and move on to the next rocker. is this correct? when turning it the 1/4 turn, i should turn the allen key too, to lock it? i just want to get everything squared away so im not at the parking lot thinking "damn i wish i would have asked this question"

The best way to do it is to loosen them one at a time until you hear the tapping, then tighten the main nut until it just quits tapping, and tighten the Allen, and move on to the next one; then once all 16 are done that far, loosen the Allens one at a time, tighten the main nut another 1/8 turn or so, then tighten the Allen, then tighten the main nut and the Allen together yet another 1/8 turn or however far they'll go that way.
