WHAT NEXT???????? ARG

Ok so I am overheating still. have replaced the relay, the coolant temp swith in the block, the cooling fan switch at the rear of the engine bay and have even tried another ecm after my local garage guy said that the ecm thougt the fan was always on even when it wasn't and that I should get a new ecm. Well I got one out of a wrecked firebird and changed the proms and it does the same thing as my original ecm. What gives I cannot understand this. The ecm thinks the fan is always on but the fan never comes on....HELP PLEASE HELP!

Matt,

The ECM really doesn't monitor the fan operation. It only controls the output, and presumes that the fan runs whenever it is commanded ON. Do the fan ground connection and fusible link test O.K.? You shoudl be able to hear the fan relay click on if you ground the dark green/white wire o the fan relay. If the relay clicks on, the fan power circuit may have a bad fuse link, ground, or you may have failed relay contacts (doubtful on a new relay).

This might help:
