Why people who cant drive a car shouldnt own camaro's

Who:Some 18 year old ***** at my school

What:Purple 1989 RS with custom sunroof in real good shape

(There story) This girl is driving her car to school this morning arguing with her sister, well her sister yanks the wheel, she yanks back, over corrects(probably didnt at all) gets sideways in a easy, sweeping right corner and the car drifted to the right, into a drive way and into a ditch parralel to the driveway, when the cars driver side dug into the ditch, it flipped onto its roof.

(What looks like happened)She was tring to scare her younger sister by driving on the wrong side of the road (no skidmarks indicating any fishtailing in the right lane, The skidmarks start in the left lane. Her sister yanked the wheel and she went sideways and the above happened. Definatly totaled the car.

OK, I am tring to convince a friend of mine to get her to buy it back from the insurance company, so we can put the 305, drivetrain, and interior into his 87 V6.

How much will the insurance want for it?

What are the chances of the wheels not being bent(we'll use these to if we can)?

Is the 305 the same block the same as the 350? can I bore it out to 350 standards, if not, then how much can I bore it out?

Will the ground F/X look good on the 87?

Can I polish the alluminum wheels?

Is the V6 automatic the same as the V8, I know they are both 700R4's but is one built better?

The price the insurance co. will ask from her is prohibitive. Find out where it goes from there.

I doubt that all four corners are Ok, but I've seen weirder things happen.

Different blocks, no you can't bore a 305 to a 350.

This is a question that demands an answer based on an opinion, why not ask the owner of the guinea pig?

Yes.

Not too sure. Are you sure the V6 has a 700 instead of the 200?

the rims wont be bent, theyll be cracked and you may not see the cracks so avoid them-get yard rims for 30 a piece because theyre 450 bucks each new.

the GFX will be fine

if you do use the rims, yes they can be polished

soon that white 5.0 lx at school will get a good waxing from a nasty 355 RS...heheheheheh

The trans in the V6 car is a TH200 4R and no, it has the B-O-P bolt pattern and will not bolt up to a Small block chev - without an adapter kit.

The 305 block is at best, a boat anchor.

The rims probably aren't worth keeping.

I believe the 87 V6's came with the 700R4, not the 200, but it will not bolt up. The V6 is a 60 degree block (angle of the pistons) and the v8's are 90 degrees.

Berlinetta gets `Star Wars' electronic instrumentation. Included bar-graph tach, digital speedometer, and stalk-mounted cassette/radio, fingertip steering wheel side pod mounted controls, cruise control in steering wheel, and an overhead console.

305 Cross Fire V-8 dropped; all Z28 hoods steel. Clutches switched to hydraulic operation on manual transmission cars.

L69 H.O. Z28 motor now available with automatic transmission.

All automatics now 4 speed 700R4 units.

So it is a 700R4.

you may not be able to buy it directly from insurance, find out what salvage yard their selling it to and call them, my friend rolled his 95 t/a and the engine, tranny etc. where ok, he got the car for 700 bucks, after selling all the good parts he made 2000 profit!

This doesn't answer your questions but i'm adding to your topic Sounds almost like the story I heard today. This girls dad let her take his Vette to school, not sure what year cause i haven't seen it. But a train was stopped on the tracks on the main road and there is a side road off to the left where you can bypass it, so her and her friend following her fly down this road and instead of stopping at the end of this road to go right, she decides to show off, and just take the turn. Hello mr. telephone poll, she spun out and nailed the pole, some people just don't get it, if you don't know the car don't try to do some crazy s#!T! you will get yourself killed! Oh yeah almost forgot she wasn't hurt or anything but can you imagine how ticked her dad will be! Maybe it will be a learning experience for her, and the 150 other idiots from the highschool that drive like that.

My Mom's boyfriends stupid 17 year old son, tried to race a mustang and lost control around the turn like in NASCAR only it was a flat surface and hit a cement barrier and light post fell over onto the car. It was totalled too. Nobody was hurt.

Dumb, Dumb, Dumb.

Not the best "donor" car to purchase. I bought a wrecked 92 Z28, fully loaded, from the girl who owned it. $3200 and I kept the engine tranny and rear. I parted the rest and just about broke even. HOWEVER, this was a low mileage car and the interior was PERFECT. I sold the entire interior to a guy in Texas for big money. Rims went for $400, 145mph instrument cluster, dash pad, doors, glass, GFX etc.
I'd wait for someone to wreck a better car!
Glad no one was hurt.

I think i read you can make a 305 a 335 at the most. I want to make mine a 327 if possible. (327 SS)
By the way, things do happen. Saturday night a kid i known was driving home from his girlfriends after a hard day in the field and fell a sleep at the wheel. I'll go to his wake on Wed.
We'll miss you Nathan.

The trans is a 700R4 and a chevy 60* V-6 pattern, there is no adapter kit available

The 305 block is at minimum, better than a 2.8

The rims are most likely scratched. Beyond that, I'll bet they're still good.

The insurance company will let her have the car, but they will deduct "scrap value" from her settlement. Have her ask the ins. co. what that value is and if she keeps the car who's going to pay the tow bill. If she would have to pay the towing company tell them to kiss your a**. I'm willing to bet that the bill is more $350 and is getting bigger everyday. Plan on a $600 towing bill by time the car is released.
