NO JOKE: NEED YOUR HELP!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

Ok guys i posted a couple days ago about a car i found for sale (1989 RS). I ended up putting a deposit on the car today. But i am having second thoughts that i payed to much for the car. I am going to end up paying $4500 all together with deposit.
Here is the info on the car.
Body has absolutley no rust and no dents. The paint is cracking but still has the clear coat. The interior is in great shape except for about an inch tear in the seat.
The trans shifts perfect.
the engine has been rebulit 4,000 miles ago and the owner has all the receipts. It was changed to a carburated engine with a 750 holley (vacuum secondaries) it has 9.5:1 compression with $400 worth of work in the heads (have reciept). edlebrock performer RPM intake and a comp cam (don't know which one, but have the specs he has the spec sheat on it). It also has MSD ignition, 1.6 rocker arms, new water pump, alternator, starter.
The car seemed very tight and drove perfectly. I can still get my deposit back. do you guys think that $4,500 is to much for this car? Should I get my money back?

guess it depends on how bad you want the car, it doesn't sound bad to me. i think i'd prefer one with a l98, but that's me.

It sounds reasonable to me man. I paid $3500 for an 88 base with a 305 TBI auto, 100% stock as a rock. 2 year old paint, no rust, totally clean and well kept up on. BUT the seller knew and i knew (but he didn't know i knew) that his daughter ran the hell out of it on weekends. Still though, it was posted at $4900 at the dealership. I think your doing alright, judging by what you'e said about the car. Just my .o2

thanks guys for your input. I forgot to mention that the 305 was swapped out for a 350. Also it has shorty headers with dynomax catback exhaust. The blok is out of a 94 chevy 1500. it was totally rebuilt and it does have 4 bolt mains. Any more advice would be great. i am hoping i made the right decision because i like the car.
Thanks
Tom

Doesnt sound that bad to me. If its what you want, then go for it. Sounds like it is worth the money with all the mods you listed. I am a firm believer in gut instincts, do what you feel is right.

Just be sure that the paint color and interior color is what you want. Those (especially the paint) are some of the most expensive things to change. Now I wish my camaro was black instead of red. Oh well, red can look badass:-)

Go for it!! That engine build alone - depending on who he knows - would have cost around $2000 so if the body and interior are clean, the tranny shifts good and the trans fluid smells/looks good, it sounds like a solid car. Most likely the rear end is only a one-wheel-wonder with highway gears, but it sounds to me like all you need to make that car fly is a better rear end and a stall. You will, however, have to look at your abilities to repair any possible problems with that custom engine setup and how reputable the guy is that built the engine. If you don't know thing-one about carbs, than maybe a stock, EFI F-body is more you're speed. Overall the car sounds pretty good to me - without actually looking it over. My $.02

Thanks guys for all your help. Yeah i do know some about carbs and i also know people that really know them. I am lost when it comes to fuel injection. The only thing on this car that will need to be fixed in the next year or two is the paint, but i can do that too.
thanks

I personally would never buy a car that has engine work done to it. It is better to buy stock then modify the car yourself. You really never know what the owner before you did to the car

Only thing I'd suggest is to check the smog laws in yor area...that car wouldn't pass a visual inspection (with the carb on it) here in California, we also have to show the EDO stickers for the exhaust and just about anything else bolted on top that the smog guy doesn't see everyday.

Thanks guys for all the help. I just don't want to get ripped off. i am only 18 and it took me a long time to save this money. I forgot to mention that the car needs new tires too. but my dad is going with me tomorrow to check out the car and make sure i am not paying to much. But even with the crappy paint and needing new tires, it is still worth $4500?
thanks
Tom
P.S. sorry for all of the questions, i just don't have the knowledge you guys do. i promise this is my last question.

No the car doesn't have posi. I plan on buying a whole rearend with the posi and the gears that i want already in it. I think it is cheaper that way.
Thanks

Zio, tell the person whom your buying this car from that u only have 3900-4000 total to pay for the car! Your deposit + what u have in your pockets = $3900.00 cash! I think that he will take it because its a older car & its not like someone will have 3900 in his face the very next day! with the 600 dollars u save u can register & put insurance on the car.
REMEBER THIS:
1. he needs your money
2. act like your not really interested & u saw another car for less money.
3. make sure u have your best poker face on when u say this 3900 is all the money that u have!

I would still offer him the 3900 like 86Tra/maro suggested. Even if he doesn't take it, you can always came back the next day and "have scrounged up" the extra dough. People have gotten some amazing deals this way.

Zio you can always try to talk him down a little more. The car sounds pretty good. Like others have said go with your gut instinct and make sure that it is the car you truly want. I have an 89 rs and love it. Only thing I wish i could get are the 91 or 92 ground effects.

Zio-hey, is the car white with orange stripes? If so that is a twin of my car, they were both built up the same way. If this is the same car, buy it. I want to see a couple things on it as well. let me know my email is stacysguy@hotmail.com maybe we can get together or something

Well guys I ended up buying the car. I love it and I did end up paying $4500 for it, but i think it was worth it. The only thing that I need to do to it is put a 650 holley on it. the 750 is just too big. I am loosing a lot of low end torque. thanks for everyones help, i really appreciate it.
