new VATS lock cylinder installed
new VATS lock cylinder installed
yepper.... I spend 1/2 day installing the new vats lock cylinder. what a
Royal PITA ! Taking the steering column apart is nothing compared to
snaking the wires down the column. I only recommend doing this job if
you have patience, otherwise it can be frustrating. Then my horn
didn't work and I had to pull the sterring wheel again, sheesssssss.
I'm happy though as I don't have to worry about my baby getting ripped
off.

When I replace the VATS cylinder, I cut the wires at the cylinder (if they aren't broken already) and tape the new wires to the old, then pull them down through the column. Very easy, just be gentle, don't want to ruin the new wires. I'm glad to see you kept the VATS, it may just save your car someday.

I tried do that, but the wire connector was to big to go down the column. I had to remove the wires from the connector, then pull them through. then reinsert the wires into the connector. not having the tool to remove the wires from the connector was the biggest problem.
