I ran an ad in classified a few days ago for a set of rods for $20. Just some stock resized rods that are sitting around collecting dust.
I get a reply to my ad and the interested party clearly doesn't know the english language too well. Very broken and confusing to read, hard to make sense of.
So the guy tells me he's in Texas and asks for a shipping quote then he changes his mind and he's in Michigan!
There's no way on earth I'd send money to this dude. But now I'm wondering if I should even accept money from him.
Am I endangering myself by accepting a check from someone like this?
Does anyone know who this is? He used an address in Wyoming Mich.

Require a postal money order, including a projected shipping cost. Let the Post Office worry about the color of the guy's money.

 

What's the address? PM it to me if you want. Wyoming, MI is like 10 minutes from my house; I drive through it every day to go to work.

I'm thinking he might be a foreigner, in need of some sbc rods and someone stateside is handling the deal for him.
It's got the smell of a scam, you know... One of those deals they tell you to steer clear of.
Only the guy wants to give me $$ not take it.

 

Here is a pretty classic scam, he will send you a cashiers check for say 500 and wants you to send him the remainder....its a fake cashiers check and you get a returned check. Tell him the rods are sold, sounds too fishy imo

 

I asked the guy what his TGO member name is and why he was from Tex yesterday and Mich today.
Haven't heard back. I guess he's found something better to do with his saturday afternoon.
BTW this was a TGO classified ad, Has this happened to anyone else here?

What about using pay pal?

 

The guy decided not to reply when i asked him how he got from Texas to Mich in 8 hrs.
I'm tempted to post the emails this guy sent me. The sentence structure and misspellings is a real crackup.
